My Most Recent Photoshoot

In my most recent photo shoot, I focused on forced perspective. First, I had my friend Faith stand far away from the camera, while my friend Catherine stood close to the camera and squatted down and held out her hand. I wanted to make it look as if Catherine was holding Faith in the palm of her hand.

"Forced perspective is a technique which employs optical illusion to make an object appear farther away, closer, larger or smaller than it actually is. It manipulates human visual perception through the use of scaled objects and the correlation between them and the vantage point of the spectator or camera." (wikepedia, com)

Based off the definition, I tried to play with differences of objects and my model. For example, in the picture above, I had my friend Catherine look at if she was blowing smoke, but really she was puckering her lips next to an elongated cloud.

Another one of my pictures had my friend Lauren making a fist about ten feet in front of a stop sign. Then I had her stick her tongue out and put it as close to the stop sign as possible. Because the stop sign looked so much smaller, it looked as if Lauren was licking a lollipop.
