3 Things I Worry About In Photography

There are a lot of things photographers worry about and we put so much pressure on ourselves becuase we want everything to be perfect. For me, the top three things that I worry about in photography is being orginal, having the perfect lighting and making what I was thinking about in my head be translated the way I want in the picture.

1. Originality: One of the things I worry most about in photography is if the idea I have come up with is orginal. A lot of the time I think I've come up with a really cool concept that has never been done before and I look it up and it's already been done thousands of times or there are already a bunch of different versions of the same type of picture. For example, the black and white photos with one object in color. A couple of years ago I had randomly come up with this idea and I thought it was so innovative, but it turns out that type of picture is a photography cliche that has been done over and over again.

2. Lighting: I've talked about this in a previous blog post, but lighting is always going to be a worry of mine. It's always frustrating when I think I've taken a really good picture where the focus, framing and subject matter is perfect but it comes out over or underexposed (which is an reoccuring struggle of mine).

This happens a lot outside becuase the lighting is constantly changing and obviously I can't control the sun. Also, sometimes it's a sunny day and I have the camera on the perfect setting but I want my model under a tree or something and the photo comes out underexposed because the sun is being blocked by the tree and it's shadier than expected.

3.Making my vision come to life: There are a lot of key components that goes into making the perfect picture. And a lot of the time I have really cool ideas and concepts that I want to try out, but I don't know how to make them work in a picture or there are different elements in the pictures that make me have to scrap them. One of them is focus. A lot of the time when I'm playing with different settings, the focus gives me a hard time. Sometimes, there are outside forces that inhibit me from creating the picture I envisioned in my head. The next thing is having models who give me a hard time and don't do what I ask them to do. Also, one of the most worrisome things is trying to get an action shot and the subject matter is perfect but sometimes things get in the way or it comes out blurry or the lighting is off and I can't recreate the scene.

All of these can be really frustrating. But it's just the everyday life of a photographer and they don't make me love photography any less.
